故事发生在近代列强侵略、社会变革动荡的大环境之下，商务印书馆在张元济先生主持下，发展成国内首屈一指的现代化印刷企业。 19世纪30年代，张元济高价争购八册古籍珍本，争购失败的日本文人中岛一郎，为报复投靠日本间谍机关，最终炸毁了商务馆。书馆虽然毁了，但中华文化不绝，中华民族精神永存。。江父去世，江言生推去会议赶往父母所在的小区江城一品，不料被秘书误以为看中江城一品这一小区进行改造项目。钱秘书传递其父钱有才错误信息，全小区上下打扫一新迎接江总。在业主刚把电梯擦拭干净时，电梯被江母按了上去，送去世的江父下楼，就此冲突展开。。Val (Jerrod Carmichael) has reached a place where he feels the only way out is to end things.
