The subtitle of Jean-Marie Straub and Danièle Huillet’s first feature, from 1965, “Only Violence Helps Where Violence Reigns,” suggests the fierce political program evoked by their rigorous aesthetic. The pretext of the film, set in Cologne, is Heinrich Böll’s novel “Billiards at Half Past Nine,” which they strip down to a handful of stark events and film with a confrontational angularity akin to Bartók’s music that adorns the soundtrack. The subtlest of cues accompany the story’s complex flashbacks. The middle-aged Robert Fähmel tells a young hotel bellhop of persecutions under the Third Reich| his elderly father, Heinrich, an architect famed for a local abbey, recalls the militarism of the First World War, when his wife, Johanna, incurred trouble for insulting the Kaiser. A third-generation Fähmel is considering architecture, just as the exiled brother of Robert’s late wife, returns, only to be met by their former torturer, now a West German official taking part in a celebratory parade of war veterans. Straub and Huillet make the layers of history live in the present tense, which they judge severely. The tamped-down acting and the spare, tense visual rhetoric suggest a state of moral crisis as well as the response—as much in style as in substance—that it demands.。阿龙（周润发饰）为人聪慧机灵，略懂千术，他只身一人进城找到了名声大噪的头号老千屠一笑（谢贤饰），初生牛犊不怕虎的阿龙向屠一笑发出了挑战，结果可想而知，阿龙输得一败涂地。可是虽然输了，但是屠一笑在阿龙的身上看到了无限的潜力，于是破例收他为徒，两人前往上海打拼。 在上海，阿龙和屠一笑结识了名叫霍思灵（汪明荃饰）的女子，霍思灵的善良和温婉深深的吸引了阿龙的注意，后者对她展开了热烈的追求。然而，霍思灵却对成熟稳重的屠一笑情有独钟，可是屠一笑在前一段失败的感情中受伤颇深，对于霍思灵的示爱，他总是躲躲闪闪。。小女孩桃乐丝•盖尔带着心爱的小狗图图住在叔叔家位于堪萨斯州的农场里。一天，威力巨大的龙卷风席卷而来，所过之处片瓦不留。胆小的图图躲在床下不敢动弹，为救回小伙伴，桃乐丝从防空洞中出来。正在此时，龙卷风将房子连同其中的桃乐丝、图图一同卷上天空。不知经过多长时间，小木屋落到一块陌生的土地。当地的居民欢欣鼓舞，因为屋子落下时把一个邪恶的女巫压死了。在北方女巫的指点下，桃乐丝决定前往魔法师奥兹所居住的翡翠城，希望找到回家的方法。一路上，她先后遇见了想要有颗聪明头脑的稻草人、希望有一颗心脏的铁皮人以及渴望变得勇敢胆大的狮子。为了达成愿望，他们跟随桃乐丝一同前往翡翠城…… 本片根据美国同名童话改编。。
