亮（吉冈秀隆饰）与家里的父亲发生了冲突，离家旅行到一个小镇，遇到了一家影院的经理活男（西田敏行饰），并留了下来工作，在影院工作的还有放映师常先生（田中邦卫饰），并认识了开咖啡店的八重子（田中裕子饰）。活男一直喜欢八重子，可惜后来终未能如愿，八重子离开了小镇。。高中自然课女教师杰西卡被绑架了，幸好歹徒囚禁她的地方放置有一部老式的拨号电话。杰西卡慌乱之中随便拨了一个号码进行求救，她的求救电话打到了小伙子瑞恩的手机上。瑞恩一开始以为是恶作剧，但随后歹徒发现了杰西卡在向外求救，砸坏了电话。听到歹徒的吼叫和杰西卡惊呼，瑞恩才意识到事态严重。杰西卡在歹徒走后利用她的自然课知识重新拼装好了电话，重新和瑞恩取得了联系。通过她的讲述，瑞恩得知歹徒很快就会对她的丈夫和儿子下毒手，而杰西卡连自己身处的位置都不知道。留给瑞恩的时间已不多，何况他的手机电量有限。瑞恩必须尽一切努力去挽救杰西卡一家的性命。。Disarmingly realistic in its depiction of the realities of frontier life, Heartland is a strong antidote to the cliches of traditional Westerns. This semi-documentary slice of life is based on the diaries of Elmore Randall Stewart about her days on the Wyoming frontier in the early 20th century. It's a strongly feminist statement about a woman raising her small daughter alone and scrapping for a living by working for a shy Scottish rancher. Director Richard Pearce brings an endearing touch to a film that is helped greatly by the dazzling cinematography of Fred Murphy. Conchata Ferrell and Rip Torn star in this small film that substitutes veracity for a high-powered plot. Pearce worked as a cinematographer on Woodstock and other documentaries before making his directorial debut. Winner of the 1980 Berlin Golden Bear at the Berlin Film Festival。
