浪人柴左近（丹波哲郎 饰）在旅行途中，偶然遭遇了三个恐慌的农民。他们不堪忍受地方长官松下宇左卫门（石黒達也 饰）的剥削与暴政，于是铤而走险，绑架了松下的女儿亚矢（桑野みゆき 饰）作为人质。左近深知农民们的做法何其危险，于是假意休息留了下来，并且击退了官兵的首次围捕。松下大怒，聚集了包括樱京十郎（長門勇 饰）和桔梗锐之介（平幹二朗 饰）在内的一众浪人前去营救，谁知京十郎与锐之介深解农民的苦衷，临阵倒戈站在了左近一方。 不久，松下又绑架了其中一名农户的女儿作要挟，左近不愿看到女孩受到伤害，情愿用自己的肉体苦痛换来农民的安全。但是他所面对的却是一个言而无信的无耻之徒……。When a group of old college friends, now in their 30s, gather over Christmas at their recently deceased friend's remote mountain cabin to celebrate his life, they see it as an opportunity to come together as the cohesive unit they once were.
