故事讲述了七十年代中期，马春霞生下杨辉后，李宝成因怀疑儿子非亲生，将其遗弃。街道工人杨妈虽家境贫困，却将杨辉悉心培养成人。苦寻30年的马春霞终于找到儿子，然而因认子问题，生母与养母爆发了矛盾。危难时刻，身为博士后的脑外专家杨辉，成功为患脑中风的养母实施开颅手术；随后，他又为病入膏肓的生母捐献肾脏，诠释了可贵的亲情与缘分。最终，杨辉与心爱的姑娘张晓平喜结良缘。。Restoration carried out by the National Museum of Singapore and the World Cinema Foundation.
