公元2019年（正化31年），为了取缔扰乱公共秩序和风俗，侵犯人权的行为，而制定的“媒体良化法”已经经历了30年的考验，媒体良化委员会与“图书队”之间的战争席卷了整个日本。 渴望成为防卫员的图书队员笠原郁，没有向双亲吐露自己的心声，每天勤奋地进行着军事训练。郁在高中时，曾经差一点被一名媒体良化队员抢去书本，好在一位图书队员将其解救。为了成为正义的伙伴，郁把那位连脸都没有记住的图书队员当作是王子，并决定自己也要加入图书队，担负起守护书的责任。 不久，有着卓越运动能力和满腔热情的郁，被派遣到 “图书馆・特种部队”里……。Set in a small town in West Texas, four boyhood friends who made a solemn promise to leave town together immediately after high school graduation must now "put up or shut up." The clock is ticking, and as all 81 people in town watch, offer advice, and place bets, these four very different boys struggle with the biggest decision of their lives . . . whether to stay or leave home...。
